The Art Museum offers a wide array of speakers, events, gallery talks and workshops to help you learn about and enjoy the permanent collection and special exhibitions.



Gallery Experiences

InDepth – second Saturday each month, 2 – 3 p.m. Join Art Museum staff the second Saturday each month for an in-depth look at special exhibitions or gallery re-installations. This expanded gallery talk will provide comprehensive information and insight into what’s new at the Art Museum. FREE. Reservations Recommended.

RAW ART – third Saturday each month 2 – 3 p.m.
We’re stripping down our permanent collection to its raw essence. Each session of RAW will focus on one work of art from the permanent collection and every dimension of the piece – who, what, where, when, & why. Art is not created in a vacuum and many of the cultures represented by works of art in our collection are still thriving to this day. Follow us on Facebook or Twitter and help decide which artworks will be featured each month. FREE. Reservations Recommended.

Yoga with the Masters - Tuesdays 6-7:15 p.m.
Discover the ancient art of yoga at the Cincinnati Art Museum with yogi, Werner Hildebrand, instructor at yogahOMe. Through meditation, breathing practices and yoga postures, participants will learn to be more stable, still and illuminated. This monthly course welcomes all levels and will open space in the body, cultivate mindfulness and touch the soul. Individual Sessions: $6 Art Museum Members, $12 General Public. One-Month Series: $20 Art Museum Members, $40 Non-Members. Reservations Recommended.

Studio Sunday - first and third Saturday each month 1-4 p.m.
Do you love to sketch? Feeling creative? Be inspired by the permanent collection on this day dedicated to sketching. We provide everything you’ll need. FREE. Reservations Not Required.

See the Story Book Club - third Saturday, bi-monthly – 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Do you love to read? Love art? Join librarians from the Public Library and Hamilton County and members of the Art Museum staff for this bi-monthly book club. See the Story combines works of fiction & non-fiction by authors from around the world with work from the Art Museum’s permanent collection. Join us and see the story. FREE. Reservations Not Required. Please see website calendar for book titles.

Performances

Something Different – every Friday,  12 – 2 p.m.
Looking for something new, something engaging, something different to energize your Friday?  Need a break at the end of the week? Join us at the Cincinnati Art Museum for a Something Different. Enjoy a variety of live performances from musicians, poets, storytellers, dancers and more. No two Fridays will be the same, so plan for the unexpected. We will see you on Friday.  FREE. Reservations Not Required.

Art After Dark – last Friday each month, 5 – 9 p.m.

Enjoy cocktails and entertainment while taking advantage of exclusive evening hours in the galleries with our new series of Art After Dark happy hours. Sip merlot with Monet and pinot with Picasso and start your weekend off right with us at the Art Museum. FREE event with cash bar and appetizers for purchase. Reservations Not Required. Parking at the Art Museum is $4; FREE for Art Museum Members.

Corporate Teambuilding

Do you need a fresh team-building event for your employees or volunteers? Choose from one of the following programs which foster creative thinking and group problem solving while increasing participants’ comfort with the visual arts and familiarity with their community’s Art Museum.

Art Inc.: In this custom-designed program, a museum educator will lead your staff through lively, in-depth art discussions or art-making activities. Each Art Inc. is tailored to your specific needs, including conflict resolution, diversity training, or staff enrichment. Cost: $200; $100 for Cincinnati Art Museum's corporate partners.

Teacher Programs

Evenings for Educators
Taking place on the third Wednesday of every month, September though May, Evenings for Educators is a professional development program that supports all subjects taught in the classroom through the lens of the Cincinnati Art Museum’s extensive collections and special exhibitions.  Evenings for Educators is offered for teachers of all grade levels and disciplines, art appreciation volunteers, and pre-service education majors.
Participating teachers will receive CEU certificates in May and graduate credit is available for an additional fee through Ashland University. Individual Sessions: $10 Art Museum Members; $20 non-members; $5 students. Series Cost (all 8 sessions): $70 Art Museum Members; $150 non-members. Reservations Required.

10th Annual Summer Teacher Institute: Identity
July 24 - 26, 2012 (Tuesday-Thursday), 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. each day
Identity has been a reoccurring theme in the work of artists for centuries.  Join us as we explore issues of identity across time, culture, and media.  We will look at objects in the Art Museum’s permanent collections in addition to the special exhibitions Henry Ossawa Tanner: Modern Spirit and The Art of Sound: Four Centuries of Musical Instruments.  Participating teachers will benefit from guest lecturers, art making workshops, and guided tours.  Teachers will leave with a newfound understanding of identity in art and practical methods for connecting this knowledge to the classroom.Summer Teacher Institute is offered for teachers of all grade levels and disciplines, art appreciation volunteers, and pre-service education majors.Lunch is provided each day.
Participating teachers will receive CEU certificates and graduate credit is available for an additional fee through Ashland University.
